Position Overview:

Schumacher Electric Corp., the industry leader of battery chargers in the automotive aftermarket, has a Compliance Engineering opportunity available. As a Compliance Engineer, you will lead the agency work to aid other engineers to design and develop consumer battery charging products and accessories to meet requirements.

Location: Greater Dallas / Fort Worth Area

The primary responsibility is to obtain and maintain safety agency approvals for domestic and international compliance for all facilities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with domestic and international safety compliance agencies such as UL, CSA, IEC, FCC, Energy Star, DOE, etc. to receive required certification for new products. Duties include developing certification test plans, requesting and evaluating testing (thermal, mechanical, electrical, EMC) as needed to obtain third party certification.
  • Oversees internal agency required testing and schedule third party testing as required. May assign work and direct the activities of engineering support staff as required.
  • Works with production facilities and suppliers to assure compliance with standards and procedures. Resolves any variations in a timely fashion.
  • Works with engineers and project managers to analyze, develop and recommend design approaches required to meet agency requirements for new or improved products.
  • Assists with product design, prototyping and testing.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of available standards and test procedures.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of equipment listings and calibration certificates.

Qualifications:

  • BSEE, BSME or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with compliance agencies.
  • Good mechanical aptitude a plus.
  • Must be able to analyze components and datasheets, communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing, manage multiple projects at once, and comprehend engineering drawings, diagrams and test standards.

As an Electrical Engineer you will work with other engineers to design and develop consumer battery charging products and accessories. The primary responsibility is to design and coordinate the development of electrical and electromechanical consumer products.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, fabricate, modify and evaluate hardware/software for new and existing consumer battery charging products.
  • Develop electronics hardware using a variety of microcontrollers. Software experience a plus.
  • Compile and evaluate design and test data, prepare and review technical specifications, analyze technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product specification.
  • Develop switch-mode power supply designs used in battery chargers for industrial & consumer market. Analog and power electronics design experience should include experience designing battery chargers, jump starters, inverters and transformers.
  • Review and approve drawings and specifications prepared by technical support personnel. May assign work and direct the activities of engineering support staff as required.

Position Overview:

Schumacher Electric Corporation, a leading designer and manufacturer of consumer battery charging products, has a Software Project Engineering opportunity available. Primary task includes delivering high quality and timely software based on documented product requirements. Project scope ranges from legacy software updates to new product designs. This position must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and is accountable for the thorough implementation of all tasks assigned.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create high quality software in a timely manner for battery chargers and automotive accessories. Software development in C in an embedded control system environment using a variety of 8/16/32 bit microcontrollers.
  • Software development using Integrated Development Environments such as IAR Embedded Workbench, ST Visual Developer, MPLABX, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records by documenting software development while following published software guidelines.
  • Conduct and participate in peer design reviews for software verification and validation.
  • Design, fabricate, modify and evaluate new and existing consumer battery charging products.
  • Perform development and/or test work that requires a comprehensive knowledge of battery charging technology.
  • Compile and evaluate design and test data, prepare and review technical specifications, analyze technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product specification.
  • Supply comprehensive descriptive manual documentation representing product understanding for the current software release at a draft level to a technical writer for the product manual.
  • Analyze, develop and recommend design approaches required to meet production requirements for new or improved products.
  • Able to work concurrently on multiple projects.

Technical Expertise (may include):

  • Hardware – Embedded Controllers – Required: 8-bit, preferably ST. Plus: 16/32-bit. Peripheral Devices – Required: SPI, I2C, UART, ADC’s, and PWM. Plus: CAN, LIN, USB, CAP, Wi-fi, and Bluetooth.
  • Instrumentation – Required: Oscilloscope. Plus: Logic Analyzer, CAN, and LIN bus tools.
  • Languages – Required: C at advanced level. Plus: C++, Assembly, Java, and Python.
  • Software – Required: At least one of the following IDE’s: ST Visual Developer, IAR Embedded Workbench, MS Visual Studio.Net, Code Warrior, or Eclipse. Plus: Access (MS Office), SQL Server, Matlab (including Simulink or Stateflow), Embedded Android, Embedded Linux, or RTOS, or Schematic and PCB design – Altium, or Allegro.
  • Documentation – Required: Flow charting, software requirements specification, software guidelines, code commenting, draft manual writing, and test plans/procedures.
  • Programming – Required: Low-level drivers, and procedural code. Note: Candidate should be experienced writing a complete C program from scratch to demonstrate most of the functionality of an 8-bit embedded controller. Plus: Bootloaders, or object oriented programming (try/catch, unique types, type conversion operators, operator overloading, or abstract data types).

Qualifications:

  • General: BSEE, or related engineering degree.
  • Qualified candidates should have minimum of 3 years experience, preferably in the consumer electronics field and be well-versed with the Software Design Process and Best Practices. Previous project management experience a plus.

Position Overview:

The .Net Programmer/Analyst will work in concert with the SyteLine/CSI team and business users to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and existing software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. Day to day duties will include developing and maintaining software supporting all aspects of the business. You will be primarily responsible for working with the business to understand requirements and develop sound processes to meet stated requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as an ambassador for IT by achieving the right balance between customer satisfaction and efficiency.
  • Create value by enabling internal customers in their daily work, owning incidents and IT requests, resolving, and communicating on a timely basis.
  • Support the company’s use of Infor Syteline ERP and other software applications by creating data and KPI dashboards and reports.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and subject matter experts to develop and/or integrate new enterprise applications.
  • Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures.
  • Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.
  • Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users.
  • Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Liaise with vendors for efficient implementation of new software products or systems and for resolution of any adaptation issues.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.
  • Coordinate with balance of IT Team to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.
  • Develop processes that enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications, as necessary.
  • Design, run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
  • Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.
  • Participate in internal planning meetings providing feedback on project priorities, progress and results.
  • Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
  • Train end users to operate new or modified programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, and/or 3 years equivalent work experience
  • Strong background in MS SQL, .NET/C#, VB, Crystal Reports/SSRS, SSIS, MS Power BI, MS Forms, MS Power Automate, INFOR Birst, Web Design, Bartender label printing experience.
  • Experience in designing, developing, presenting, and implementing ideas.
  • Ability to visualize data using graphs, dashboards and reports
  • A flair for creating well-presented software that is technically sound.
  • Experience with Infor SyteLine/CSI or similar ERP databases.
  • Understanding of general database design concepts.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
